So, Christmas time is officially on the horizon. Is it too early for Bing Crosby and Rudolph ornaments? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, I'm starting to feel the winter spirit coming on. In light of this, here's my official student wishlist for this year!
- Plenty of snow to make for a solid ski and snowboard season
- A few extra days off from school
- A couple of videogames
- A snuggie
- More Kraft Dinner
Thanks,Corey...

Should people be taxed for not voting? Just a question I've been kickin around. I figure that if people were taxed higher if they didn't vote, they would, which would mean more voters. And those who didn't vote couldn't complain about high taxes, cause well, it's their fault. The system is flawless.I have a feeling that this little law of mine is not going to get passed. I understand, I suppose. Mostly it’s my assumption that most people already suffer under tax for not voting....

Let's talk a little bit about what's going on here. I'm a guy and me and my three friends are going to be roaming town for the next little while telling all sorts of folks about Unity Savings Credit Union. Why? Great question. Suppose I told you that you could be an owner of a business for $5. No big deal? Maybe you don't wanna believe me, that understandable. Let's say you could be sitting on the board of directors deciding how that business runs. Crazy? Maybe, but consider the alternative. ...

Everyone knows that it's tough to save up money. There's just way too much cool stuff to spend it on. But the reality is this - you've got to pinch those pennies whenever you can. It's just a matter of building a set of rules for yourself and following them.
If you're a student at St. Lawrence College, there's a program that can help you do just that. The "Manage Your Money" program put on by SIFE SLC is a great resource for those looking to stretch their budget. They have seminars in...

For all of you still in the process of discovering the best places in Kingston, here's a few suggestions from a seasoned veteran of the city.
Wild Wing
This restaurant is absolutely unreal. Over 100 flavours of wings. My suggestion: Ride Sally Ride.
Starbucks @ Divison & Johnson
I realize Starbucks isn't exactly a hidden treas...

Jason, Corey, Amy and I have been very busy spreading the word about our new Break Free account over the past few weeks. We hit up the downtown core of Kingston to find out if people understood what a credit union is... If it had been an actual test, they would have failed. Really bad. But we didn't let that discourage us. You can't expect people to escape unless you show them the exit. So we've been all over town telling people about Unity Savings. We like to...

September is under way, school has started off with a bang, and the street team was out in full force yesterday at St. Lawrence College.
As all of you new and returning students are probably starting to notice, money disappears quickly when you're at college. There's just too many opportunities to blow it on cool stuff and fun activities. So why should you be throwing away even more of it than you need? Say you're out at the school and need some cash. You go to the ATM. You just want ...

As August dwindles away into nothingness, the reality of college and university is surely setting in for this year's flock of soon-to-be freshmen. You can practically smell move-in day. So can your family, which is why they've so generously given you six different sets of plastic cups and cutlery.
But no amount of unnecessary kitchen supplies can prepare you for what truly lies ahead. You're walking into a jungle. A jungle full of beer and essays. So here is part two of my survival gu...

Your mother is likely sweeping you off to Ikea. You probably have enough quarters for laundry to pay half your tuition. You're currently stocking up on toiletries, shirt hangers, and lots of Tupperware. You are counting down the days - nay, the hours - until your departure.
You are about to enter the world of post-secondary education. Whether you are living in a residence or staking out in a less than glamorous student ghetto, you've got to prepare for this new world. As one of the lu...
